The carbon content of scrap steel is generally less than 2.0%, and the sulfur content and phosphorus content are generally not more than 0.05%.

According to the use, scrap steel is mainly divided into two categories: furnace use and non-furnace use. Scrap steel for smelting is divided into 10 types according to its external dimensions and unit weight. Scrap steel for non-smelting is no longer classified and is determined by agreement between the supply and demand parties.
